The School of the Spirit Department is a vital teaching arm of Omega Fire Ministries, Lagos, devoted to imparting a profound understanding of the Word of God. Every Sunday morning, the Department organizes structured sessions, guiding members through lessons from the School of the Spirit Manual. Beyond teaching, the Department ensures that each member gets a copy of the Manual, fosters engagement through questions and discussions, and addresses real-life applications of biblical principles.

Vision

To raise a spiritually enlightened congregation, deeply rooted in the knowledge of God’s Word and empowered to live victoriously in Christ.

Mission

1. To faithfully teach and instill the principles of the Word of God, using the School of the Spirit Manual as a foundational guide, while fostering an environment where members can seek biblical understanding and wisdom for life’s challenges.

2. To encourage punctuality and regular attendance, emphasizing the importance of consistency in spiritual growth.

3. To inspire dedication among Department members to study and rightly divide the Word, as guided by our motto, “…Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth” (2 Timothy 2:15b).

4. To create a virtual and onsite platform for in-depth, collaborative lesson reviews, enabling Department members to be thoroughly prepared for Sunday teachings.

5. To foster unity, love and mutual support within the Department, encouraging collaboration and a spirit of service among members.

6. To inspire Department members to act as ambassadors of Christ and the Church, supporting the activities and projects of the Church with integrity and dedication.

Expectations

1. Commitment to Sound Doctrine:

Ensure each lesson aligns with biblical truth, fostering growth in faith and spiritual understanding.

2. Accessibility of Resources:

Provide every member with access to the School of the Spirit Manual and supplementary materials for enriched learning.

3. Engagement and Interaction:

Encourage open discussion and questions to help members deepen their relationship with God and practically apply His Word.

4. Spiritual Mentorship:

Guide members in their spiritual journey, helping them become well-versed in the Scripture, confident in their faith, and equipped to lead victorious lives in Christ.

Membership Requirements

To join the School of the Spirit Department, a church member must:

1. Be born again and demonstrate a committed Christian lifestyle.

2. Have successfully completed the Foundational Class and the Omega Bible Institute (OBI).

3. Be an active attendee of the School of the Spirit sessions and be familiar with, and effectively using, the School of the Spirit Manuals over a substantial period..

Units within the School of the Spirit Department

The Department consists of two main units:

1. Foundational Class:

This unit is focused on introducing new members to the doctrines and beliefs of the Church. It provides vital information on the church’s mission and activities and offers guidance on living out one’s faith in a way that aligns with the church’s teachings. Upon completion of the foundational classes, certificates are awarded to qualified members, marking their successful assimilation into the church family.

2. Baptismal Class:

This unit is dedicated to teaching born-again members the significance of water baptism as a symbol of death, burial and resurrection of Christ. The Baptismal Class also organizes a seamless process for water baptism by immersion, following the biblically recommended mode of baptism. Certificates are issued to members who complete the course and are baptized by immersion, recognizing their commitment to their new life in Christ.

Through these units, the School of the Spirit Department seeks to nurture and solidify members’ understanding of foundational Christian teachings, supporting their growth and integration into the faith community at Omega Fire Ministries, Lagos.
